Valencia, Spain has a few protected natural parks from an ecological point of view. Both in the center and in the outskirts of the city you´ll find parks and places of interest for those of you who are nature lovers. Definately something to see while on holiday!

Our trip around the natural spaces in Valencia begins along the Natural Park of Albufera. It has a surface area measuring 23,000 acres, declared a Natural Park by the Autonomous Valencian Government in 1983. This park was born thanks to the sediments left behind by the Turia and Jucar rivers.

Lentiscales, salty grass, dunes, rice cultivations, and much more is what makes the landscape so special in this park. It is part of more than a dozen municipalities in the province of Valencia, for example municipalities like Sueca, Cullera, Catarroja or Algemesi amongst others.

The trip goes on to the Dehesa del Saler which is the sand bars that surround the Natural Park of Albufera.

Once inside the city of Valencia you cannot leave without visiting the Botanical Gardens, inagurated in teh 16th century with the purpose of studying medicinal plants.
